Sewing Summer Camp - Week 4

This week was a lot of fun. I wasn't as busy because there were only 3 people who enrolled to camp this week. Two of the returned for their second week because they enjoyed their first week so much.

We started teaching the other girl the sewing machine and helped her make her bag. She decided she wanted to make a robe. It was a learning experience for her. She had to use a seam ripper a few times but made a very snuggly robe to hang around the house

There's always lessons in everything we do. I learned a lesson not to assume how people will sew. This little girl who I thought would have a hard time sewing could sew like you wouldn't believe. It's a wonderful expierence watching someone develope their natural ability given to them. She made a beautiful blue dress with headband and hair scrungy to match.

This is the second week for this girl too. She made another top and clothes for her American Girl Doll. She will be back again next week to make more projects.
I really enjoyed sewing with these girls. They brought in their own music to listen to and we all enjoyed each others company.

There is one more week of sewing camp. You know I will be taking more pictures to share so check back next week.

I also started a new project - a pair of shorts. It's actually an old pair of shorts I wore all the time. The zipper popped out on me and I couldn't wear them any longer. I took the seam ripper to them, took all the pieces apart, used them to cut out a new pair of shorts. I'll take some pictures in the next few days to show you what I've done so far.

Tomorrow's Sunday. A day to enjoy my family, and do the never ending laundry :)

Summer Camp - Week 3

Another week of camp has passed. This week I had a group of friends. The two girls on the left took my class last December. The two girls on the right are sisters. These girls were so much fun to be around. We had a lot of smiles this week.

The first day we made bags for them to bring their things back and forth to class. They did a great job learning the first day.

This week they sewed jean bags with pencil holder, pillows, a dress, pants with matching top, wrap skirt and a back pack.

I am again surprised at the talent of these young sewers. If they keep up their skills they will have a life full of creative fun.

Ariela's Designs

Ariela took my class a few months ago. She didn't know how to use a sewing machine on her first day but learned very quickly. She also came in for my first week of summer camp.
I taught her how to cut out her project during the class. She went home and sewed them herself much to my surprise. She came back to class with another project cut out ready to sew. She made several projects during her 4 week's of class and made several more during summer camp.
She is one of my better students. She gets what I teach her. It comes natural to her. She has started to design her own clothes and has sent me a few pictures. She is really good for a 12 year old. (you are 12, right Ariela?) Or close to it. She is enjoying her summer and making them "sew" much fun. She also made her own body form.

Enjoy your moments (like Ariela) - make them "sew" much fun,

That week went by fast

The one week of vacation a year went by fast. I swear the older I get the faster time goes by. My days pass like hours.

Tybee island near Savannah was a lot of fun. We had a family reunion with my husbands family. It was only a 7 hour drive for us. We spent long hours on the beach, fishing and enjoying the family. Ally was sad to leave her cousins and cried when we got home.

Tomorrow starts another week of summer camp. It is a full session. A couple of the girls have already taken my class and know how to use the sewing machine. We'll see what they want to make. It's all about what they want to do - I don't what to tell them what they should create. I'll take some pictures and let you know how it goes.

I also have a new pattern class starting tomorrow night from 6-8. There are a few people who signed up to the class while I was gone. I'm not sure how much sewing I'll get done this week. I have a lot of ideas for new projects. I just need to find the time to sew them.

Vacation - all I ever wanted
Vacation- got to get away....

I loved the Go Go's. They were a good girl band who wrote a great song.

Our bags are "almost" packed. I still have laundry to fold (the never ending laundry). Soon we will be on the road to our family reunion in Savanna Georgia. A whole week on the beach.

I have a big week when I return July 16. Summer Camp is full but I do have seats available to the Monday/Wednesday class and Saturday 12:30-2:30 class. Both are "Learn the Machine and how to sew a pattern" class. If your interested in taking either one you can always sign up online.

I'll post some pictures of our vacation while I'm gone otherwise - I'll see you when we return home.
